Year 7 Transition Pathway
The Year 7 programme built around the Year 7 Discovery Campaign, connecting subjects, careers and opportunities.
Annual Career Spotlight Sessions · KS4
A KS4 programme built around one idea: changing your approach when something isn't working is learning. Students explore the 500-hour challenge, talent versus practice, deliberate practice and learning from mistakes — then choose a real challenge of their own to pursue.
The Core Idea
Getting good at something real takes hundreds of hours of practice. Study Hacks Lab asks students what they'd be willing to spend 500 hours getting better at — and what that would actually take.
Students examine whether ability is mostly natural, or mostly built through practice over time.
Students learn the difference between simply repeating something and practising it with focus and feedback.
Students explore why changing your approach when something isn't working is itself a form of learning.
Real-World Examples
Students look at real routes that depend on sustained, self-directed practice and adaptation — competitions, content creation, reselling and learning a language — and at careers that require continued self-teaching.
Choosing a Challenge
Students choose something real to learn, create, build, enter or lead — then apply what they've learned about practice, mistakes and changing approach to actually do it.

Pathway & Resources
Study Hacks Lab is its own dedicated KS4 programme — it is not one of the eight Standard/Embedded Enrichment Activities and does not use the shared Enrichment Activity evaluation form.
Tutor-Group Evaluation
A short native form for the member of staff who delivered Study Hacks Lab with their tutor group, covering two tutor-group sessions.
